Verified Reviewer Original review: We fell behind because of medical problems. These people call my cell, my husband’s cell, our home, our work, our family, and then when they don’t get what they want, do it all over again MULTIPLE times a day. Tonight, I screenshot them calling at 8: And today, they came to my house, with my kids home alone, banging on the door and scaring my kids to drop off a notice of late payment.
Seriously thinking about taking legal action and they can eat what we owe. Made my payments every month for two years having built a perfect credit score with them. Came March of , I forgot a payment as I had been dealing with health issues. Only time I had forgotten in two years. Customer service at the Gainesville GA Location had told me they would do a forgiveness for me and I needed to sign a form.
I asked if this would affect my credit and they said NO, they would not report as that was part of the form and that I have done so well. I had checked my credit and found out that they had reported it.

The practice of using natural objects as rudimentary pieces of furniture likely dates to the beginning of human civilisation. The site dates from — BC and due to a shortage of wood in Orkney, the people of Skara Brae were forced to build with stone, a readily available material that could be worked easily and turned into items for use within the household. Each house shows a high degree of sophistication and was equipped with an extensive assortment of stone furniture, ranging from cupboards, dressers and beds to shelves, stone seats, and limpet tanks.
The stone dresser was regarded as the most important as it symbolically faces the entrance in each house and is therefore the first item seen when entering, perhaps displaying symbolic objects, including decorative artwork such as several Neolithic Carved Stone Balls also found at the site. Pieces found here include tables and inlaid serving stands. There are also surviving works from the 9th-8th-century BC Assyrian palace of Nimrud. The earliest surviving carpet, the Pazyryk Carpet was discovered in a frozen tomb in Siberia and has been dated between the 6th and 3rd century BC.

Furniture Handle Styles More than just a functional device, drawer and cupboard handles or knobs can provide both a decorative fillip to a piece of furniture and useful clues in dating it. The earliest forms of furniture didn’t really need handles and it wasn’t until drawers came into general use in the 17th century that handles became a decorative element in a piece of furniture. The metal mounts on imported Chinese furniture were an inspiration, and ca ly handles were usually made of cast brass.
Much about the date of a handle can be learned from the material itself, as well as the way it’s shaped. Brass made before often had an unattractive, pitted look. From that date, lead was added to the mix of copper and calamine to produce a metal with a softer feel. It’s less shiny, and more yellow than brass made after around In that year, James Emerson patented an alloy of copper and pure zinc, which, because of its closer resemblance to gold and the lack of pitting, soon became the standard form of brass.
The first metal handles, though, used in the early and mid th century, tended to be made of iron and were shaped like inverted hearts. These were still being used on country furniture in the 18th century, but on better pieces were supplanted by drops, usually teardrop-shaped lumps of solid brass that were hinged to a backplate at their narrow end. The plate was occasionally fashioned as a flower, but was more usually a plain circle. The drop itself was sometimes cast to resemble an acorn.
In the early 18th century the bail handle was developed.

How to Date Furniture by Casters By Ann Johnson ; Updated April 12, Furniture casters are viewed as a convenience that helps us move furniture so we can vacuum or rearrange the room. Yet, casters sometimes had more to do with lighting than housekeeping or design. Casters were fit on the legs of desks to allow the desk to be moved around the room to capture the changing sunlight throughout the day.
Another use for casters is to estimate the date of the furniture. Look to see if the caster is a leathern bowl or roller. This is one of the earliest forms of casters, indicative of furniture made during the Queen Anne period in the early s.
Furniture: Furniture, household equipment, usually made of wood, metal, plastics, marble, glass, fabrics, or related materials and having a variety of different purposes. Furniture ranges widely from the simple pine chest or stick-back country chair to the most elaborate marquetry work cabinet or gilded.
It could be a pretty nice Colonial Revival chest or desk or dresser, in excellent condition, that catches your fancy. But is it all original? And does it matter? Whether it matters is a concern for another day. Today the discussion is just on determining the originality of hardware. Since changing or altering hardware is one of the quickest and cheapest ways of improving the look of an otherwise-bland piece, the pulls are always suspect, especially if they look really good.
Early 18th century hardware was cast from molten brass using molds made of sand. The backs of this type of hardware were often left with the impression of the sand while the faces were polished. Around the middle of the 18th century the customary blend of copper and zinc was changed to include more copper, giving the alloy more of a reddish cast than the pale yellow brass used for hardware earlier in the century.
And by , rolled brass sheets were available so that each piece of hardware could be cut or stamped rather than having to be cast. This greatly reduced the cost and increased the availability and uniformity of late 18th century drawer pulls and escutcheons. The use of high pressure rollers during the Federal period increased output even more.
No longer did decorative pulls have to be engraved or chased individually.
